Each May, the California Partnership for Young Worker Health and Safety hosts a campaign to raise awareness about protecting young workers on the job.
As the summer job season approaches, many young people are entering the workforce for the very first time. There’s a good chance no one has ever told them about their rights on the job, or how to stay safe at work.

Every six minutes, somewhere in the U.S. a teenager is injured seriously enough at work go to a hospital emergency room. Annually, 30 – 50 teens die from their injuries. These injuries and deaths can be prevented if we:
- Know the laws
- Make sure teens are doing appropriate work
- Confirm that teen workers are trained and supervised
- Help teens learn to ask for help when they need it
